Avalanche Secure Erase Suite for SSD by Foremay
A disk purge solution for flash drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 27, 2010 at 3:21 pmForemay, Inc. announced the Avalanche Secure Erase Suite at the Flash Memory Summit 2010.
The Avalanche Secure Erase Suite is a complete disk purge solution for solid state drive and flash hard drives. With Avalanche secure erase solutions, a SSD user can now has freedom to choose one or more out of Foremay’s three types of secure erase methods:
- the software based secure clean, a.k.a., Type I method;
- the hybrid software and hardware based secure delete, a.k.a., Type II method; and
- the hardware based based one key self-destroy disk erase, a.k.a., Type III method.
All three types of secure erase methods work as SSD hard drive eraser to completely erase hard drive within short period of time.
"In a regular SSD, deleting a file only removes its name from the directory or file table. User data remains until overwritten by new data. Even reformatting the SSD also leaves data intact," said Jack Winters, CTO of Foremay, during the Flash Security workshop and panel at the Flash Memory Summit 2010, "the Avalanche Secure Erase Suite deploys various technologies to overwrite or destroy all user data in allocated blocks, file tables, and data in reallocated defective blocks. It is engineered to execute hard drive erase, and to erase files permanently"
After secure erase files with Avalanche technologies, one can now either dispose or transfer an SSD safely without worry about information leakage, or destroy physically the flash memory in side an SSD.
Some application examples of secure erase include:
- Mission Critical Applications
- Military and Defense
- Government Systems
- Public Health and Social Security Administrations
- Financial and Insurance Institutions
- Banking Systems
- High Reliable Enterprise
- High Reliable Stock / Security Exchange
- Public Security
- Medical Equipment
The Avalanche Secure Erase Suite supports a variety of solid state drive interfaces such as SATA, IDE, PCIe, CF, SAS, ZIF and industrial USB. In addition, the Avalanche also support various types of standards for secure erase methods for enterprise SSD, industrial SSD and military SSD including:
