Western Digital to invest RM2.5b in Penang by 2012
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng welcomed data storage maker Western Digital (M) Sdn Bhd’s decision to invest US$800 million (RM2.54 billion) in the state by 2012, saying it will create more high-paying jobs and attract more talented workers. Western Digital had announced its plans three months ago to spend US$1.2 billion (RM3.79 billion) for its operations in Malaysia covering Selangor, Johor and Penang, which will get the bulk of the investment.
