IBM DS5020 With SSDs

At 73GB and 300GB

IBM Corp. enhanced System Storage DS5020 Disk System and EXP520 Expansion Unit with the following new features:

  • 73 GB and 300 GB solid state drives (feature numbers 5590 and 5591, respectively): These features offer a new level of performance and can be intermixed with SATA and FC hard disk drives within DS5020 and EXP520 enclosures.
  • Air filter bezel (feature number 2011): This feature provides an air filter housing (and one filter) that attaches to the DS5020 and EXP520 enclosure and is designed to help prevent harmful particles from entering the enclosure in harsh environments.
  • 240 volt Brazil power cord (feature number 9862): This feature provides two 2.8 meter, 240 volt/10 amp C19 to NBR 6147 line cords and replaces the previously announced 125 volt Brazil power cord (feature number 9842).

The DS5020 and EXP520 now also conform to applicable Network Equipment-Building System (NEBS) level 3 documents and to applicable European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) documents.

Additionally, the 240 volt Brazil power cord (feature number 9862) is now available on IBM System Storage DS5000 series and DS4000 series disk systems and storage expansion units.

Key prerequisites:

The solid state drive and air filter bezel features are supported on the following products:

  • DS5020 Disk System
  • EXP520 Storage Expansion Unit

The solid state drive features require DS5020 controller firmware level 7.70, or later.

The Brazil line cord feature
is supported on the following products:

  • DS5300, DS5100, DS5020, DS4800, DS4700, and DS4200 Disk Systems
  • EXP5000, EXP810, EXP520, and EXP420 Storage Expansion Units

Planned availability date:

  • August 20, 2010: All features except Air Filter Bezel (feature number 2011)
  • September 10, 2010: Air Filter Bezel (feature number 2011)
