MRV LambdaDriver WDM System Qualified by HDS
For remote storage connectivity with Hitachi TrueCopy software
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 22, 2010 at 3:18 pmMRV Communications, Inc. has joined the Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) Solution Alliance and its LambdaDriver wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical transport system has been qualified by HDS to support its TrueCopy software.
LambdaDriver
MRV Communications, Inc. is a provider of optical communication and IT infrastructure management solutions to service providers and enterprises around the world. The LambdaDriver is a multi-functional, compact, modular coarse and dense WDM system with a flexible architecture and variety of optical networking modules and chassis. The optical LambdaDriver WDM system is an ideal ultra-low latency and highly reliable storage area networking (SAN) optical extension solution with supported data rates from 8 Mbps up to 40 Gbps with seamless upgrades to 100 Gbps.
Qualified by HDS for extended distance connectivity, the LambdaDriver supports the Hitachi TrueCopy Remote Replication software. TrueCopy provides a continuous, nondisruptive, host-independent remote data replication solution for disaster recovery or data migration over any distance. The combined solution allows users to synchronously transport high-bandwidth replication traffic with minimal delays and high reliability.
"Storage is a critical application, and our enterprise and service provider customers are using LambdaDriver as a reliable solution to interconnect their SAN islands and implement geographically dispersed data recovery solutions via a fiber-optimized network," said Dilip Singh, chief executive officer of MRV. "Joining HDS’ Solution Alliance allows us to better serve joint customers by providing them with very cost effective, interoperable and high performance remote storage connectivity."
"With the growth in cloud computing, online backup and disaster recovery are driving demand for remote storage, which often requires higher-speed connectivity," said Sterling Perrin, Senior Analyst for Heavy Reading.
"Together, solutions like the LambdaDriver and TrueCopy software can meet customer storage needs while delivering the bandwidth flexibility required for successful storage connectivity," Perrin continued.
Hitachi Solution Alliance partners actively engage in joint development, integration, co-marketing, and co-selling activities with HDS, and can look to MRV for the solution to their connectivity issues. Solution alliance partners typically have multiple touch points with HDS, including participation in multiple technology initiatives.
About MRV’s LambdaDriver Platforms
MRV’s LambdaDriver is an optical transport system for building high-performance enterprise access, metropolitan carrier and long haul transport networks. The LambdaDriver is a multi-functional, compact, modular WDM system that supports both dense and coarse wavelength division multiplexing and coarse wavelength division multiplexing technology. LambdaDriver also serves as a packet optical transport system by integrating Carrier Ethernet connection-oriented services and reconfigurable OADM for automated optical mesh topologies with wavelength-level switching. The LambdaDriver series can support data rates from 8 Mbps up to 40 Gbps with seamless future upgrades to 100 Gbps.
