Irish Online Backup Firm keepITsafe Invests €50,000
In fibre connection between data centers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 21, 2010 at 3:10 pmIrish company keepITsafe announced the completion of their IT investment in a private fibre connection due to the increased demand in their online backup service.
keepITsafe is the only online backup backup company in Ireland to invest at this scale between both their datacentres – Digiweb and Data Electronics. The fibre connection offers the highest level of network security and uptime for keepITsafe’s customer base.
"This IT investment was inevitable due to the large growth of customers and also the growth in data from existing customers. Our current investment future proofs our infrastructure, making sure that we keep our guarantee to our clients and corporate business customers", stated Jonathan Crowe, Technical Director, keepITsafe.
What does this mean?
It guarantees that two backups in both sides of the city are constantly syncing to make sure that the backup is instantly recoverable from both sites. In the unlikely event of an issue in one of the datacentres, data is guaranteed to be recoverable 24/7, again allowing our customer base to grow with the knowledge that our infrastructure is the highest standards available.
keepITsafe received the coveted ISO 27001 stamp in February this year and their continued investment in best practices is high on the agenda moving forward into 2011.
Jonathan continues by stating that more proactive steps should be taken to regulate the data backup industry especially in the area of online data backup. Programmes such as the Data Protection Review Group are welcomed, to set new codes of practice based on the current demands of customer’s sensitive data. At present anyone can set up an online backup company without any regulatory policies put in place. The consequences to businesses and customers are far too great to allow this to continue.
For the first time SME’s in Ireland can have an enterprise class backup system in place. Smaller organisations are benefiting hugely from companies such as keepITsafe investing in software as a service technologies. Now companies can take advantage of enterprise grade backups for a low annual cost. Part of this cost gives companies access to 24/7 managed and monitored online backup solution. Due to the fact that pricing is based on data volumes even the smallest of operations can benefit.
"Data security is our core business and it is crucial to the longevity of our service that we utilise the most advanced technology there is to make sure our customers are getting the fastest responses possible", stated Jonathan Crowe, Technical Director, keepITsafe.
