BackupAgent Online Backup Software V4
Storage of backup data based on retention policies
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 21, 2010 at 3:11 pmBackupAgent, provider of online backup software for service providers and Web hosts, released its online backup software platform. Version 4 was announced and presented at HostingCon 2010, held on July 19-21 in Austin, TX.
Version 4 will represent a next generation of online backup software focusing on product improvements to enhance the experience of both SME customers and BackupAgent’s partners; service providers, hosters, and telcos.
One of the most compelling new features in V4 is storage of backup data based on retention policies, resulting in a better and more consistent behavior during restore over a long period. Also, backup accounts will sustain a more even level of data storage usage over time. BackupAgent V4 comes with a redesign of the management console to allow faster and more consistent monitoring of backup accounts and running backups, resulting in a significant reduction in required monitoring effort for administrators.
Other new features are an extended folder filter functionality with a default filter set to avoid backups of temporary and unnecessary data. BackupAgent Client software will integrate with Kaseya by enhanced error logging in Windows Event Viewer. Lastly, BackupAgent has added Hungarian and Danish to the available languages, totaling 10 available languages.
Above feature set is a result of an intense customer feedback process in which BackupAgent has collected typical usage behavior and compared this with wishes and ideas coming in from partners. During the course of 2010 and 2011 BackupAgent will also add more cloud-related features as part of BackupAgent V4. The software will support cloud storage protocols natively in the near future and will open more parts of the software as API or SDK for integration with other services.
BackupAgent has over 250 service providers and reselling partners from all around the globe.
