WD Senior VP Raymond Bukaty to Retire

Bukaty announced his intention to retire as Senior Vice President, Administration, General Counsel and Secretary of Western Digital, effective October 1, 2010. Mr. Bukaty, 52, is retiring after serving as Western Digital’s General Counsel for more than eight years and having worked for Western Digital for more than 11 years. Michael Ray, currently Western Digital’s Vice President, Legal Services, and a member of the Company’s legal department for the past 10 years, will succeed Mr. Bukaty as Western Digital’s Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary.
Bukaty began with WD as vice president, corporate law in 1999. Previously, beginning in 1995, Bukaty served Fluor Corporation, Aliso Viejo, Calif., as assistant general counsel for that company’s corporate group. Before that, he was a partner with the law firm Riordan and McKinzie (now part of Bingham, McCutchen, LLP), Los Angeles, Calif., where he honed his skills in securities, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital funds and leveraged buyout funds. Raymond M. Bukaty received in 1983 combined juris doctor and master’s of business administration degrees from the University of Southern California and earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in 1979. Bukaty currently serves on the board of directors for Mercy House, a charity supporting the homeless in Southern California, and Orange County ARC, a charity providing assistance to the developmentally disabled.
