Addressing the growing market for secure and reliable storage for small to mid-size businesses, Verbatim announces its PowerBay family of professional storage solutions. Featuring cartridge-based hard disk drives, the PowerBay line includes a 4-bay NAS system and a single-bay drive solution.

Designed for maximum data security
Offering up to 8TB of storage capacity, the PowerBay Quad Drive NAS is a high-performance system that efficiently stores and protects critical business data across a network. The PowerBay NAS offers unique features to enhance data security, such as RAID 6 support – safeguarding data even if two hard drives fail, real time data mirroring to an external device via high speed eSATA, real time LAN replication to a remote NAS and 256 bit AES encryption. Multiple redundancy options ensure that data will be protected and quickly online again in the case of a component failure.

Verbatim’s PowerBay NAS has a feature set that allows system administrators to easily integrate the NAS and manage their network storage environment. It supports Active Directory 2003/2008, Windows CIFS/SMB, Apple AFP 3.1 and Time Machine, multiple access rights settings and groups/folders/quotas control, FTP/HTTP download/backup, Wake On LAN, UPS monitoring, email alerts and print server functionality. The PowerBay Quad Drive NAS is available in 2TB, 4TB and 8TB capacities. It contains 2 Ethernet LAN ports, 2 USB ports and one eSATA port.

PowerBay Single Drive – Tape alternative
Also being introduced is the PowerBay single-bay removable hard drive solution that can be used to mirror the PowerBay NAS or used as a stand alone replacement for tape systems. Connected via eSATA or USB, the PowerBay Single Drive System offers fast backup and storage of data onto removable HDD cartridges. By utilizing multiple cartridges, businesses can use the system for periodic backups and archive data at different time points. Available in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities, the PowerBay single-bay drive offers removable and fast random access HDD technology, delivering better performance and reliability than tape.

Hot-Swappable Cartridge System
The Verbatim PowerBay NAS uses a hot-swappable removable hard drive cartridge system with capacities of 500GB, 1TB or 2TB. This hot-swappable technology enables users with no IT expertise to easily remove and exchange protected HDD cartridges without having to turn off system power. The PowerBay NAS RAID data is then automatically rebuilt upon cartridge replacement. Also compatible with the PowerBay single-bay drive, the fully enclosed cartridges help protect disk drives from dust and damage during transport and storage. PowerBay enclosures and cartridges are designed to optimize heat radiation and minimize factors that typically lead to hardware failure. For additional data security, all PowerBay systems have a physical key lock to protect HDD cartridges from unauthorized removal.

The PowerBay NAS and single drive systems ship with Acronis image-based backup software for Windows, providing true disaster recovery.
