Perfect Search Licenses Search Technology to Olson Data Max
For converting paper documents into retrievable files
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 7, 2010 at 2:25 pmPerfect Search Corp., an enterprise search company delivering scalable search, announced it has licensed its enterprise search technology to Olson Data Max, a document life-cycle company. Perfect Search’s technology enables paper-to-digital documents to be indexed and archived at the point of origin, then saved on disk, on a server or in the cloud. Documents can later be searched and retrieved with ease.
"Company data is the heart and soul of information value for all businesses and the data that flows through that heart is vital to preserving the health of the company," said Tim Stay, Perfect Search President and CEO. "With Perfect Search and Olson DataMax, companies can convert legacy paper documents to digital, while easily enabling search and retrieval – down to a keyword or phrase level query."
The joint solution is particularly relevant for companies that have to comply with regulatory mandates to make all of their data available in digital format, such as the medical or healthcare industries. Converting records of any kind into digital content can be costly and difficult. Additionally, once the documents are converted often it is difficult or impossible to find detailed information within the document because the document is saved as an image. With the partnership between Perfect Search and Olson DataMax, the barriers to accomplish this conversion as well as the negative aspects outlined above have been dramatically reduced or eliminated.
Users simply scan documents with a multifunction copier/printer or a scanner, creating a digital readable file that Perfect Search can index, search and retrieve in seconds. For example, a medical office administrator can scan a patient’s paper file using the integrated technology created by Olson DataMax between the scanning device and Perfect Search, then save the file to disk and hand the entire file to a waiting patient in a matter of minutes. Offices can also scan all patient records into searchable electronic files, using much less office space than before.
"Perfect Search’s technology was the perfect solution for our search and integration needs," said Steven L. Olson, Olson DataMax CEO and Chairman of the Board. "Together, we can leverage our expertise to simplify the conversion of paper documents to digital files and help companies that are struggling with this burden."
The joint solution enables companies to:
- Easily convert thousands of paper documents to digital format
- Reduce or eliminate ‘paper’ storage
- Share digital documents
- Index and catalog digital files
- Create an active archive of digital files on disk, on a server, in the cloud, or all three
- Find stored documents and files in seconds
- Comply with regulatory mandates to make all data available in digital format
- Use organizational historical data for analysis, business advantage and intelligence
- Streamline operational efficiencies from an information management standpoint
Perfect Search’s software innovation enables the world’s fastest search so companies can quickly and cost-effectively access and use information from structured and unstructured data sets all across the enterprise. The company’s patented disk-based Hyper-Federation innovation permits high-speed search and data retrieval with significant hardware savings, freeing enterprises from costly, sluggish, memory-based enterprise search technology reliant on random-access memory (RAM) to cache an index. Perfect Search’s suite of search products supports multiple platforms – from single servers to large server farms – and requires less hardware than existing solutions.
