Seagate plans to move Scotts Valley employees to Cupertino
Seagate Technology, which got its start here in 1979 and became the largest employer in Scott Valley, plans to move most of its workers over the hill next year. The disk drive manufacturer, which has operations worldwide, will keep 160 employees in Scotts Valley of 600 who work here now, according to company spokesman Brian Ziel. The Scotts Valley workers will relocate to 10200 S. De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino, formerly the headquarters of Portal Software and less than a mile from Apple, a top Seagate customer. Joining them will be the retail team in Sunnyvale that engineers, designs, markets and sells external storage products, along with employees in a sales office in Santa Clara.
