Unitrends Proactive Monitoring Service With SolarWinds

To receive support through the network management of data protection appliances

Unitrends announced a proactive monitoring service for all of its backup and disaster recovery appliances, which is designed to assure that our customers receive dazzling support through the network management of their data protection appliances.

Proactive monitoring is available with the company’s release 5 version of software that began shipping in May. The service will allow Unitrends customer engineers to detect early signs of hardware, system, and environmental issues with respect to backup and disaster recovery and is available in all Unitrends support levels.

Russ Holt, senior vice president of business development explained the service by noting: “This proactive monitoring service works by sending us an event alert from a customer’s environment via our backup appliance. Then, we categorize, monitor, and manage these events using SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM) solution. Critical events are flagged and a customer engineer is notified and a case is opened. The customer engineer then calls the customer and begins work on resolving the issue.”
