Quest LiteSpeed Reduces Backup Sizes of SQL Server (Starting at $1,495)

Quest Software, Inc. is launching a new edition of LiteSpeed for SQL Server, Quest’s SQL Server backup and recovery solution, which reduces the database backup footprint up to 85 percent more than traditional compressed backup solutions.

Quest’s patent-pending Fast Compression technology provides significant improvements in SQL Server backup performance. These improvements enabled one IT consultancy to cut their client’s monthly storage costs by about 75 percent.

LiteSpeed for SQL Server also offers a native backup engine, so DBAs can take advantage of LiteSpeed’s compression and encryption technology without having to modify existing backup strategies or SQL scripts.

Fast Compression =
Faster, Smaller and Intelligently Managed Backups
LiteSpeed’s Fast Compression technology significantly reduces backup times, cuts storage costs, and improves database recoverability. Fast Compression’s most unique feature is its ability to intelligently manage the backup process by backing up database changes, integrating multi-layered backup validation to ensure backup integrity, and optionally cleaning up old backups from disk.

Under the Hood: an Optional Native Backup Engine
LiteSpeed now includes a complementary engine – LiteSpeed Engine for SQL Server – that provides an easy way for DBAs to compress and encrypt existing SQL Server native database backups.
