Grau Data and IBM Germany Created WORMAppliance
Based on Filelock software and Big Blue's hardware
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 9, 2010 at 2:23 pmThe WORMAppliance consists of IBM Germany‘s hardware and GRAU FILELOCK, for the secure, long-term and audit-proof archiving of all data in accord with national compliance regulations.
Simplify Compliance
Based on IBM hardware, the WORMAppliance supports the audit-proof archiving of business data in accord with national compliance regulations on ‘standard hard disks.’ Archived data remain directly accessible for the user via the file system, but the stored data can no longer be changed. This method is ideal, e.g. for migrating data out of technologically obsolete archives.
FILELOCK Software
The WORMAppliance is the ideal solution because compliance with state-specific laws makes it obligatory to store much business-relevant data in unchanged and unchangeable form.
Written data can be read with the WORMAppliance, but can neither be erased nor altered during the entire preset lifespan. After this ‘retention time’ has elapsed, the data be erased, but still cannot be changed. Unauthorized accesses are no longer possible with the WORMAppliance.
The WORMAppliance consists of IBM hardware and GRAU FILELOCK software; the latter is certified according to national compliance regulations. Every application can write directly into the WORMAppliance via CIFS, which seamlessly integrates itself into the existing software environment. All applications – e.g. system management, backup, accounting or virtualization software – can continue to be operated without the need for costly adaptations.
Mini
The Mini entry-level model contains one IBM x3200 M3 single-socket tower server. The smallest WORMAppliance offers storage capacities ranging from 0.5TB to 1.0TB (net) – standard functions with high system availability at an attractive price.
Midi
In the medium range, the IBM system x3650 M2 (rack server) and its tried-and-tested quad-core processor technology offer an energy-efficient solution that contributes toward reducing expenses. By choosing expansion kits, this system can be enlarged from 1.0TB to 3.0TB. Thanks to its error-tolerant architectures, the system offers greater flexibility combined with minimized risk.
Maxi
If the capacities of the Midi configuration become insufficient, the is the option of connecting an IBM DS3200 storage system to the Midi WORMAppliance. This enables you to expand your storage capacities from a total of 4.0TB to 7.0TB.
All IBM systems provide the operating system, an additional RAID 5 and/or RAID 6 controller for security, and three-year onsite hardware servicing.
