PeakData Mobile Data Destruction
For HDDs, tapes and other storage media
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 1, 2010 at 1:25 pmPeakData Services, Inc. has launched a new service for the on-site destruction of disk drives, tape and other storage media using a mobile destruction platform built specifically for the purpose.
Designed and built to PeakData specifications, the mobile shredding platform consists of a fuel-efficient International DuraStar 4400 truck capable of running on ultra-low sulfur diesel or B5 biodiesel. The payload compartment is 1,200 cubic feet with up to 10,000 lbs. of carrying capacity.
Designed specifically for processing e-scrap, the onboard E-Scrap Shredder is the ideal solution for one-pass processing for precious metal recovery or secure data destruction.
The new capability enables PeakData to provide a secure and seamless envelope for disposal of sensitive data. The company has long provided secure, on-site disk eradication services for leading financial services and healthcare enterprises, among others, using its proprietary skills and assets. The process allows these entities to retain the economic value of the media assets while assuring that data is eradicated to industry standards.
When obsolescence or other circumstances have called for physical destruction of storage media PeakData Services manages the on-site process and provides certification both that sensitive data has been destroyed and that the electronic waste is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
“Our ability to offer our customers a one-stop shop to manage their data security and disposition needs has been a hallmark of PeakData Services and is the reason why we count among our customers 17 of the top 20 financial services companies in the U.S. alone with more than 100 customers in 27 countries in total,” said Glenn Jacobsen, PeakData Services General Manager.
“Our services have always been delivered with the utmost security and discretion. Adding our own assets and personnel to the on-site destruction phase enables a seamless chain of custody that our customers value,” he added.
In time, the company said, it plans to enhance its current capabilities in Europe and Asia as well.
