BakBone Helps DeLorme Map De-Dupe Plan

BakBone Software is helping DeLorme manage their growing volume of mapping and GPS data with NetVault: SmartDisk.

DeLorme, in mapping, geographic data, GIS and GPS technology, was spending too many hours purchasing and changing tapes for their growing stores of data and needed to reduce data storage costs. The Challenge
As the cost of tape libraries and the company’s volume of mapping and GPS data continued to grow, DeLorme needed a solution that would save them a significant amount of time, money and space spent on their backup and storage drives and overall data management. DeLorme’s mapping data takes up a lot of space in their database with its different formats and sizes; mapping data is the lifeblood of DeLorme’s business and the company needs access to it at all times of the day.

The Solution

Within minutes of installation, DeLorme was able to start deduplicating data.
