DataDirect HPC Storage Available From HP

DataDirect Networks, Inc. announced the availability of DDN’s Extreme Storage technology and services as part of the HP Unified Cluster Portfolio. The agreement includes the DDN S2A9900 scale-out storage platform and the Lustre File System, which addresses the needs of high-performance computing (HPC) customers using Lustre for their parallel Linux applications.

Across the computing industry, efforts to accelerate scalable applications are challenged by the limitations of traditional SAN and NAS storage technologies. As a result, scalable computing customers are increasingly unable to cost-effectively handle the demands of cluster scaling, multi-core processing and high-speed networking. The S2A9900 Lustre File Storage System is designed to address these challenges for companies in data-intensive HPC markets who are pushing the boundaries of Linux application scaling in traditional HPC applications such as research and engineering.

It delivers application scaling and real-time quality of service while delivering 5 to 100s of GB/s of bandwidth and support for 10s of petabytes and 1,000s of file system clients for Lustre customers requiring large file workloads.
