Neil Carson has joined Fusion-io as its chief technical officer (CTO) and Shawn Lindquist joined as chief legal officer. Both executives bring extensive experience to Fusion-io and will report directly to David Flynn, Fusion-io’s CEO. The company also announced that Lance Smith, formerly Fusion-io’s senior vice president of engineering, has been promoted to the position of COO.
As CTO, Neil Carson brings more than 15 years of engineering and technology experience to Fusion-io. Most recently, he was chief architect at Everdream Corporation, where he designed the world’s most scalable cloud-based systems management solution. This groundbreaking platform led to the company’s successful acquisition by Dell in 2007, after which he became chief application architect in Dell Services and helped define and build the company’s overall services management platform strategy.
As chief legal officer, Shawn Lindquist brings a long history of legal and management experience to Fusion-io. He served as chief legal officer at Omniture for nearly five years and helped guide the company through its IPO – the #1 technology IPO of 2006. He also helped lead a successful follow-on equity offering and numerous other key transactions, including several acquisitions and the company’s eventual merger with Adobe Systems, Incorporated in 2009, which was valued at $1.8 billion. Prior to joining Omniture, he was a corporate and securities attorney with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier legal advisor to technology and growth enterprises worldwide. Additionally, he is co-author of, The Initial Public Offering: A Guidebook for Executives and Boards of Directors.
As chief operating officer, Lance Smith brings 20+ years of entrepreneurial and executive experience in the microprocessor, computer technology and storage industries. Prior to serving as senior vice president of engineering and senior vice president of product marketing at Fusion-io, he was vice president and general manager for the scalable processor solutions business unit at RMI Corporation, recently acquired by Netlogic Microsystems, where he successfully brought the industry’s leading multi-core, multi-threaded XLR processor to networking, telecommunications, and embedded markets.
