D-Link DSN-5000 Series iSCSI SAN Arrays
With 1x10GbE or 4/8x1GbE ports per controller
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 4, 2010 at 3:17 pmD-Link Systems, Inc. introduced its most powerful series of high-capacity, energy-efficient iSCSI storage area network (SAN) arrays at Interop 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Exposition and Conference Center.
D-Link’s DSN-5000 Series of xStack SAN Arrays offer what IT and data center managers want in a storage solution: High-Availability (HA) configuration, future-proof capacity expansion with free firmware upgrades, an easy to manage graphical user interface (GUI), energy efficiency and system virtualization.
Available in three models: DSN-5110-10 (4 x 1GbE ports per controller), DSN-5210-10 (8 x 1GbE ports per controller) and DSN-5410-10 (1 x 10GbE port per controller), D-Link’s new SAN storage solutions combine the power of HA failover and expandability up to 84 disk drives. They are designed to optimize disk-to-disk backup, archiving, video surveillance and other key applications.
All models are built around a 10Gbit iSCSI System-on-a-Chip (SoC) that can handle more than 80,000 I/Os per second, and they are capable of sustained line speeds of up to 1,160 MB/s bandwidth. And D-Link’s innovative virtual storage technology frees the user from the complexities of traditional RAID configuration, eases management and increases the efficiency of disk utilization – all while optimizing the performance of critical applications.
A simple graphic user interface and wizard utility allow RAID volume configuration in minutes across multiple disks of different sizes and manufacturers, creating a single virtualized storage pool. Multiple RAID volumes of any level can be created on all drives, allowing IT managers to easily grow or dynamically migrate volumes from one RAID level to another on the fly with no network downtime.
The D-Link Management Center utility controls
this set of features with three easy-to-use interfaces:
- The GUI for quick single-pane management of all xStack Storage SAN arrays.
- The Command Line Interface (CLI) for powerful scripting capabilities.
- The Virtual Disk Services (VDS) interface for accessing standard Microsoft storage management tools, such as Storage Manager for SAN, DiskRAID and others.
D-Link also offers free future firmware upgrades for the life of the SAN, alleviating users from having to pay hidden fees that are typical with storage expansion.
"By integrating networking and storage functions into a simple solution, we are eliminating interoperability, timing and support issues found in competitive products, offering a solution with the most affordable pricing in the industry," said Chris Gruber, director of product line management, storage, for D-Link. "We can future-proof our customers’ storage needs as their organizations grow."
"What we wanted most in updating our outdated server/storage system were volume virtualization, RAID support, a high-performance iSCSI interface and a system that is easily scalable for future expansion," said Kyle Ferguson, chief technology officer for the non-profit Metropolitan Public Defender Services, Inc. (MPD) with offices in Oregon and Washington. "We researched various vendors, and found D-Link’s DSN-5000 series to be a good fit. It meets our needs and our budget."
Availability
D-Link’s DSN-5000 Series of xStack SAN Arrays are available now from the company’s vast network of solution providers, value-added resellers (VAR) and distributors at the most competitive pricing the industry has to offer.
