This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 29, 2010 at 3:01 pmNero AG announced its largest PC OEM deal ever, via an agreement with Toshiba.
The PC manufacturer will include Nero 9 Essentials and Nero BackItUp & Burn Autobackup Essentials on all upcoming notebooks, netbooks and external hard disk drives (eHDDs) distributed in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), enabling customers to quickly and easily backup files, burn CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Discs, and sync files and folders. The partnership contributes to the expansion of Nero’s OEM distribution channel and follows hot on the heels of recent contracts with OEMs such as Acer, Packard Bell, eMachines and Gateway.
“Consumers are becoming more demanding than ever. When they buy a new device, they want immediate access to all the necessary tools that will make their user experience as seamless as possible,” commented Thomas Teckentrup, General Manager Product Strategy and Development, Toshiba Computer Systems EMEA. “Burning data to optical media and sharing or backing up digital content is a key part of this. By bundling Nero’s software, we can give our customers immediate access to reliable and easy-to-use solutions for preserving and enjoying their content.”
With an easy Wizard-like user-interface, Nero BackItUp & Burn Autobackup Essentials enables customers to automatically backup files and folders to internal or external hard drive, backing up only new and changed files to save time and space. It also creates 1:1 copies of the backed up files and folders to allow direct access. With Nero 9 Essentials’ outstanding disc burning reliability, as well as great technical support, Toshiba will empower its customers to easily burn CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Discs. Also included is Nero Toolkit, the industry standard for testing and benchmarking optical recording drives. Together, these products and tools give users the peace of mind that all of their precious photos, music, videos and files are safely backed up and can be recovered in case they encounter viruses or system malfunctions.
“The principles of speed to market, ease of use and ongoing customer support are the central pillars of our OEM strategy. Toshiba needed a partner who could quickly roll out a backup and burning solution in multiple languages for the EMEA region. Due to the flexibility and scalability of our products, we could easily fulfill this and deliver the technical support to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction,” commented Hyder Rabbani, senior vice president, Worldwide OEM Sales, Nero AG.
