The contest is meant to promote awareness around backing up important files on your PC or Mac (including pictures, documents, music, videos, etc.) by showcasing humorous cases of when a backup has (or could have) helped out in a real situation. Maybe you ran over your computer in a rush to get home, maybe your child accidentally put your laptop in the sink in an effort to clean it … whatever your story is, we want to hear it.

Qualified contestants will be eligible to win one of three Verbatim 250GB Pocket Drives ($150 estimated retail value), plus a one-year subscription to Dmailer Online with unlimited storage ($69.99 value).

Applicants may also be selected to participate in future Dmailer marketing campaigns. The contest is officially is opened and concludes on May 21, 2010. Winners will be selected and notified in early June. Winning entries will be determined based on the criteria outlined on the contest website; the creativity, originality and clarity of the story; and the number of votes the entry receives.

The contest coincides with the company’s recent launch of Dmailer Backup v3, which set a new standard for overall value, ease of use and portability in both local and secure online data backup. Now available, Dmailer Backup v3 includes 2GB of free data storage online, while also allowing the ability to backup locally. It allows users to backup all data types utilizing a single, easy-to-use interface that is cross compatible with PCs, Macs and Windows-based Netbooks.
