Sepaton to Use HDS 2100
For its new VTL
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 22, 2010 at 3:10 pmSEPATON, Inc. has entered into a global reseller relationship with Hitachi Data Systems.
Under the terms of the strategic agreement, SEPATON has selected the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2100, the company’s newest high-performance, modular midrange storage, as the storage foundation of the newest generation of the SEPATON family of data protection solutions – the SEPATON S2100-ES2 Series 1900 and 2900.
The Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2100 offering will be integrated with SEPATON’s S2100-ES2, an enterprise-class, multifunction appliance that delivers intelligent data protection enabled by SEPATON’s proprietary ContentAware technology. By capturing key information about the data being protected, this technology enables the S2100-ES2 to deliver more effective and efficient management throughout the data protection lifecycle of backup, restore, and long-term retention.
Like all SEPATON products, the S2100-ES2 is built on SEPATON’s DeltaScale architecture for high performance, grid scalability, and global deduplication across all volumes. With it, SEPATON systems can scale from one to eight nodes of performance and physical usable capacity of a single appliance can scale from 12 TB to 1.6 PB.
SEPATON S2100-ES Series 1900 and 2900
SEPATON’s new S2100-ES2 Series 1900 and 2900 leverages the Hitachi AMS 2100 for 99.999 percent data availability with no single point of failure, hot swappable major components, dual-battery backup for cache, and RAID-6 dual parity support for enhanced reliability. It features an integrated DeltaView central management suite, providing customers with the most sophisticated 24×7 pro-active platform monitoring, and advanced diagnostics and reporting capabilities integrated into a separate management node.
Other new features
of the S2100-ES2 Series 1900 and 2900 include:
- The addition of high capacity 2 TB disk drives in the Series 2900 for increased storage density
- Usable capacity per shelf starts at 12 TB with 1 TB drives and 24 TB with 2 TB drives.
“This partnership combines SEPATON’s leadership in the enterprise data protection and deduplication market with Hitachi’s superiority in providing reliable, sophisticated modular storage, creating an unrivaled advanced data protection solution,” said Mike Worhach, president and CEO, SEPATON, Inc. “We are excited to offer our customers an industry-leading, high availability platform for enterprise environments.”
“We are pleased to support SEPATON’s new family of data protection solutions with the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2100 as its storage foundation,” said Mike Walkey, senior vice president of global channels for Hitachi Data Systems. “Together, these solutions bring true innovation to the market and meet demanding customer requirements for highly available, scalable, and cost effective storage solutions.”
