DataPool features the Intel Xeon processor and is designed around JDV’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) SSDs. Starting at $9,900 (MSRP), DataPool is configurable with up to 2TB of storage in a single 1U chassis.

DataPool is a next-generation storage server that maintains high IOPs with greater than 500 MB/sec sustained data rates. Scalable, reliable, cost effective, and green, DataPool is a full-fledged NAS/SAN unified storage appliance that provides storage administrators with a powerful tool to cope with burgeoning high performance storage needs. The deployment flexibility of DataPool ensures the best use of system performance and storage capacity resources when allocating and managing networked storage in a multi platform environment.

Some advantages of DataPool over traditional HDD storage systems include faster start-up, extremely low latency, near zero noise pollution; greater temperature range, higher reliability, and near instantaneous seek times. JDV SSDs provide excellent performance benefits for applications comprised primarily of random access patterns such as online transaction processing, databases, and web servers. The JDV SSDs in DataPool are fast, cool, quiet and reliable.

"We are uniquely positioned in the storage market focusing on small and medium-scale deployments, government agencies and universities where low total cost of ownership is essential," said Ken Fuhrman, President & CEO of JDV Solutions. "As a member of Climate Savers, we believe that high performance and green IT are not mutually exclusive. Using the latest green technology and open standards, JDV Solutions is using its engineering expertise to design servers with outstanding price/performance and lower cost of ownership without sacrificing power efficiency. With Gartner predicting that within the next 2-3 years, half of the world’s data centers will become obsolete because of power and space restrictions, we think that the time for SSD storage servers is now."

Comments

We have never heard about this start-up, founded in 2009 and headquartered in Westminster, CO.

Also we don't know its president and CEO, Ken Fuhrman. There is a Ken Fuhrman who was recently founder and CEO of Interact-TV, also based in Westminster, Colorado.

Wait a few days for an impressive announcement of other start-up Nimbus Data Systems in this field of server storage with SSDs only.
