Elite Brands Has Deployed Data Robotics’ DroboElite
In Hyper-V environment
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 2, 2010 at 3:07 pmData Robotics, Inc. announced
that Elite Brands, supplier of over
forty brands and hundreds of products to US military commissaries and
exchanges around the world, has deployed Data Robotics’ DroboElite to
provide easy-to-manage, redundant storage to ensure data accessibility
and protection in the company’s growing Microsoft Hyper-V virtual server
environment.
"With five of our servers filled to 95 percent capacity, we were
constantly running out of space and our systems were very slow,"
said Dylan McCullough, systems engineer at Elite Brands. "DroboElite
enabled us to add 16 terabytes of capacity instantly and create new
volumes in seconds. As a result, I no longer have to worry about
increasing hard disk space on the network. Beyond capacity expansion,
what stood out the most was the BeyondRAID technology. We don’t have to
take down an array for dual disk redundancy and the DroboElite will
rebuild itself. You can even access files during a rebuild – there are
high-end systems that don’t do that."
With DroboElite, Elite Brands is able to ensure business continuity by
leveraging Data Robotics’ BeyondRAID storage virtualization technology
for zero-downtime capacity expansion and protection against failed
drives. Dual drive redundancy ensures that Elite Brands’ essential
business data is accessible even in the event of up to two simultaneous
hard drive failures. BeyondRAID also provides massive volume
expandability in a virtualized architecture that is both self-managing
and self-healing, enabling Elite Brands to solve both of its core
challenges of capacity management and data safety.
"Companies of all sizes are moving towards increasingly virtualized
server environments, and the DroboElite provides storage that
essentially manages itself for those environments," said Jim
Sherhart, senior director of marketing at Data Robotics. "By
providing a truly reliable place to keep data and integration with
virtualization platforms like Hyper-V and VMware, the DroboElite allows
companies to focus resources on their business rather than managing
complex IT configurations."
