Servergraph Data Protection Expert V1.4 From Rocket Software Available

Rocket Software announced the availability of Servergraph Data Protection Expert (DPE) version 1.4. DPE helps enterprises centrally monitor and manage their backup environments more cost-effectively and with increased service levels, and provides a single, seamless view across multi-vendor backup environments, such as Symantec Netbackup, EMC Networker and Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).

In addition to internal work done to increase the scalability of DPE even further, many new features have been created and existing features have been further defined, including:

Tape Vault Expert (TVE)
From a single window within the DPE Web interface users can easily manage all the tapes within a backup environment across multiple backup servers, even if they belong to different backup applications. TVE gives you the ability to easily complete tasks such as identifying and selecting tapes ready to go offsite or ready for return.

Occupancy reporting
The new occupancy report shows the storage occupancy for TSM, Netbackup, and Networker environments on a per client basis. Understanding the amount of disk and tapes that are being utilized by your users allows users to better understand resource consumption.

Enhanced client reporting
This release includes several enhancements that are specific to TSM, Networker, and Netbackup environments to improve how Data Protection Expert reports on various aspects of client backup such as data transfer by policy, schedule, backup type, media server, storage unit and library. Statistics and metrics about the backup environment lets users more effectively and efficiently manage their resources and achieve higher asset utilization.
