Nasuni Adds Nirvanix
As a cloud storage provider
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 24, 2010 at 3:20 pmNasuni, the company that recently unveiled a gateway to the cloud for primary storage, announced that Nirvanix has been added to its list of cloud storage providers. Nirvanix, the premier enterprise cloud storage service provider, will provide Nasuni customers with unlimited cloud capacity, allowing companies to use and pay for only what they need, when they need it.
Nasuni partners with cloud storage providers to combine online storage for offsite file protection and backup with local caching, making Nasuni the only company to provide the performance to enable the cloud for primary storage. Users of the virtual Nasuni Filer can start implementing Nirvanix with a simple click of the mouse, and send an unlimited number of files to the Nirvanix cloud for scalable offsite long-term retention/archiving that is globally accessible.
“The Nasuni gateway is a technological milestone in the cloud storage industry that enables organizations to easily benefit from Nirvanix’s unique enterprise cloud storage offering,” said Jim Zierick, President and CEO of Nirvanix. “Our global network and market leading functionality are now accessible via Nasuni’s gateway, offered in a straight forward, easy to understand monthly fee at a fraction of the cost when compared to other cloud storage services and storage technologies. The combined solution provides customers with a revolutionary way to protect and manage their data globally while reducing their overall storage costs.”
“Offering Nirvanix cloud storage will enable our customers to select the right option for their needs based on pricing, service levels, and any other criteria they choose,” said CEO and co-founder Andres Rodriguez. “Storing data with trusted providers like Nirvanix gives users the assurance that their files are available and secure on a global basis. With its proven record of reliability, along with 24×7 support staff, we believe Nirvanix is an excellent choice for our users.”
According to Dave Hiechel, President/CEO, of EAGLE Software, Inc., “Cloud storage can make good business sense for our customers since it can reduce, or even eliminate in some cases, the need for new storage hardware and reduces capital expense and management time. With Nasuni’s cloud gateway and Nirvanix’s SDN combined we can now offer primary storage and not just archiving to the cloud. This approach stands to dramatically simplify file storage for our customers.”
The Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network (SDN) is a fully managed, highly secure cloud storage service developed for today’s enterprises. The SDN intelligently stores, delivers and processes storage requests in the best network location, providing the optimal user experience. The SDN is comprised of standards-based access to integrated services, all powered by Nirvanix’s patent-pending proprietary technology and infrastructure.
The Nasuni Filer is a virtual NAS file server that runs on VMware and leverages the resources of the cloud to simplify file storage and protection. Nasuni’s solution simplifies file access, storage and protection and eliminates the need for incremental storage hardware, and the resulting capital expense. The Nasuni Filer features automatic provisioning, high-performance caching, synchronous snapshots, deduplication, and encryption plus key management.
Now in beta, the Nasuni Filer can be downloaded on the company’s web site. There is no charge for cloud storage during the beta period to facilitate end-to-end evaluation. After the beta period customers will receive a single bill from Nasuni regardless of which vendor(s) they select.
