Toshiba Begins to Collect Royalties on DVD6C
Arbitration proceedings against Duplium and ADS
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 23, 2010 at 3:20 pmThe DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C), consisting of nine developers of DVD technology, announced that on January 15, 2010, Toshiba, the authorized licensor for DVD6C, filed demands for arbitration to collect royalties due under DVD6C patent licenses with Duplium Corporation (Duplium) (Canada), Advanced Duplication Services LLC (ADS) (USA), MAF Diskettes s.r.l. (MAF) (Italy) and Bestdisc Technology Corporation (Bestdisc) (Taiwan).
Toshiba is pleased to report that it subsequently reached a settlement of its claim against Bestdisc. Toshiba is continuing to pursue arbitration proceedings against Duplium and ADS. MAF has commenced bankruptcy proceedings in Italy. As a result, Toshiba does not presently intend to pursue arbitration proceedings against MAF, but has reserved the right to resume proceedings should it elect to do so in the future.
