Sepaton Multi-Node Midrange De-Dupe VTL Starting at $321,000
And trying to compete with Data Domain
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 10, 2010 at 2:57 pmSEPATON, Inc. announced the availability of the S2100-MS2, a new multi-node deduplication solution utilizing SEPATON’s DeltaStor software. The MS2 is designed to cost effectively meet the data protection needs of midsized enterprises that are currently hampered by scalability limitations of single-node systems.
Additionally, SEPATON extended the reach and improved both the capacity optimization and bandwidth utilization for remote replication with DeltaStor and DeltaRemote software version 5.3, providing customers with further data reduction efficiencies and industry- leading ROI. EMC NetWorker support is added to the list of backup applications supported by DeltaStor and DeltaRemote.
“SEPATON designed the new S2100-MS2 to solve the pain created by single-node systems prevalent in the marketplace that provide limited growth and force customers to buy and manage multiple siloed systems,” said Mike Worhach, president and CEO, SEPATON, Inc. “The MS2 delivers the exceptional scalability and speed for which SEPATON’s high-end systems are recognized in an attractively priced, high-performance, two-node scalable rack-ready solution optimized for the mid range. Our deduplication software supports all data types and has also been enhanced resulting in improved capacity management and bandwidth utilization, planning and reporting. Beta customers experienced up to a doubling of capacity optimization with this release, part of our roadmap for continuous enhancements to DeltaStor software.”
“Over the last year we’ve seen the amount of data we are backing up monthly grow from 80TB to 125TB and at the same time, we need that data available longer for potential restores,” said Stephanie Finnegan, CBCP, manager, business continuity and computer operations, American Institute of Physics. “DeltaStor software’s DeltaCache Recovery feature means we will always have the most recent full copy on-hand making restores much faster and easier. We anticipated high data growth and with DeltaStor for our EMC NetWorker environment we expect the impact on our existing processes to be minimal and should yield significant capacity savings.”
“Companies who want to address both backup and recovery performance and unrelenting data growth will benefit from disk targets with deduplication and replication capabilities, which optimize local operational recovery and remote disaster recovery,” said Lauren Whitehouse, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “SEPATON’s backup target products, including its new midrange rack-ready solution, meet these requirements and are differentiated by DeltaScale, SEPATON’s grid-based software architecture which allows for growth in capacity and/or performance.”
S2100-MS2 with DeltaStor software highlights
The rack-ready S2100-MS2 with DeltaStor software features a dual node scalable system with an entry capacity of 36 TB raw and 30 TB usable and a maximum capacity of 192 TB raw and 160 TB usable. It performs at an ingest speed of 1,200 MB/sec. The S2100-MS2 is upgradable to the S2100-ES2 series. The 5.3 software release also features advanced centralized management capabilities with robust reporting for capacity planning and management applicable across SEPATON’s entire product offering.
DeltaStor version 5.3 software highlights
DeltaStor version 5.3 features new support for EMC NetWorker versions 7.3, 7.4, and 7.5. With this release, SEPATON’s DeltaStor software optimizes results for all data types for supported versions of Symantec NetBackup, IBM TSM, HP Data Protector, and EMC NetWorker.
DeltaStor version 5.3 delivers improved data reduction efficiency with specific enhancements to optimize deduplication for incremental backups, structured data and previously unsupported data types. With enhanced capacity optimization and network utilization efficiencies, customers are achieving industry-leading ROI.
DeltaRemote version 5.3 software highlights
DeltaRemote version 5.3 features support for six nodes for NetBackup, TSM and NetWorker. It leverages the new features of DeltaStor to reduce replication bandwidth requirements and concurrently replicates data while backups and deduplication are ongoing. With DeltaRemote, replication starts within minutes after the backup completes delivering the industry’s fastest time to safety. It also delivers detailed replication control and summary status on a tape level to enable customers to effectively manage and report on replication status and understand current and future bandwidth requirements.
Pricing and Availability
