The desktop actiNAS Cube RDX, Linux-based, supports five removable 3.5-inch SATA II HDDs for a raw capacity of up to 10TB. On top of the unit, there is a RDX drive with currently a maximum of 640GB to backup the data and the possibility to extract the removable 2.5-inch unit and to put it in another safe place, like with a tape cartridge. It’s finally a D2D2D system competing with D2D2T configuration.

It includes two gigabit Ethernet ports, can be configured in RAID-0, -1, -5, -6, -10 or in JBOD using a controller from Proware Technology, and is equipped with one eSATA and four USB 2.0 external interfaces.

The actiNAS Cube RDX is priced at €1,000 with three 3.5-inch HDDs and one RDX drive.

actidata’s MD Frank Roszyk also reveals that the capacity of RDX will increase from 640GB to 750GB next April.
