DR-as-a-Service by Teneros

For Exchange 2010

Teneros, Inc., in messaging solutions, announced Teneros DR-as-a-Service for Exchange 2010, which will make Microsoft Exchange 2010 database, server and site availability affordable and achievable despite significant changes made to Exchange that make disaster recovery more critical – and more difficult – than ever before.

With Exchange 2010, a single server can now support thousands of mailboxes, greatly increasing scale and therefore also adding significant risk. In addition, all Outlook communication must pass through the Client Access Server (CAS), making this a new single point of failure. Adding to the new complexity, Microsoft has also made significant changes to its high availability and disaster recovery architecture and is ending support for clustering previously available in Exchange 2003 and 2007. With Teneros DR-as-a-Service, Teneros is solving these issues while also bringing enterprises of all sizes the cost-savings, scalability and power of a Cloud-based offering in a solution that requires no upfront capital expenditure and is so simple it can be implemented in less than an hour.

"Email is considered a mission critical application today for all enterprises, large and small," said Donna Scott, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, Gartner. "As a result, it is critical to protect email from failures and disasters to keep business processes up and running. Many IT organizations however fail to implement important email protection due to lack of time, money or initiative. Recognition of business risk of email outages should solve the initiative issue. Disaster Recovery services for email, including cloud offerings, remove the time and money issues from the table, especially for small and mid-sized organizations with inadequate facilities and lacking people resources and/or skills."

Teneros DR-as-a-Service for Exchange 2010 addresses database, server and site-level outages. It offers failover in minutes on all levels of outages, with additional protection for Blackberry, Active Directory and SharePoint. With Teneros DR-as-a-Service, you can simplify your Exchange 2010 deployment to one or two servers with no DAG, WNLB or load balancer required, as well as no DR site required. Without Teneros DR-as-a-Service, to achieve a redundant Exchange 2010 infrastructure can add significant costs. For example, up to ten Exchange servers could be needed for full DAG and CAS redundancy, as well as three to five times the storage previously required to support multiple replicas in the DAG and Lagged mailbox servers.

Instead, Teneros DR-as-a-Service, with a low monthly fee and no upfront investment, is up to 90 percent cheaper than traditional DR with no datacenter, hardware and storage needs. It also eliminates IT resource requirements for implementing customers and replicas, with no monitoring, managing and operational overhead. DR-as-a-Service dramatically lowers the ongoing operational cost of ownership of a complete DR solution by eliminating the need for dedicated in-house clustering expertise. Teneros’ dedicated 24X7 monitoring ensures adequate bandwidth allocation and software management, including updates, patches and compliance enforcement. Using DR-as-a-Service, businesses can deploy IT resources in support of their core competency and rest assured that Teneros DR-as-a-Service will be available in the untimely occurrence of a site-level disruption.

"As one of Microsoft’s most valued partners, we have unique insight into how to make Exchange 2010 failsafe in any disaster situation," said Ben Petro, president and CEO of Teneros. "Teneros DR-as-a-Service will not only ensure companies of all sizes that their Exchange server will not go down, but it will also enable IT departments to concentrate on other, mission-critical issues, saving time, money and resources, all the while knowing that their availability needs are in good hands."

To eliminate the risk of downtime associated with Exchange migration, customers can protect their existing Exchange 2003 or 2007 infrastructure with Teneros DR-as-a-Service today and get seamless disaster recovery protection before, during and after the migration to 2010 at no extra cost.
