Promise With New 6Gb SAS RAID

At CeBIT

PROMISE Technology, Inc. will exhibit at CeBIT 2010 the whole world in SATA / SAS connectivity. Among the solutions featured will be the new 6 Gb/s SAS solutions available for the IT channel, the new VessRAID Storage Systems available with extended NAS functionality, innovative storage solutions for professional applications, and its consumer focused storage solutions for small offices and home offices (SOHO).

Highlights of the PROMISE stand include:

  • PROMISE’s recently introduced 6G SAS SBB 2.0 storage solution which delivers outstanding enterprise-class performance to the entry-level market. This ground-breaking solution provides high-performance, reliability and high-efficiency design at an affordable price, marking the next advancement in storage whereby customers have more choice, value and a wider range of technology features than available before.
  • PROMISE’s SuperTrak 6G SAS RAID controller cards with enterprise-level features for use in the entry, SMB and OEM markets. The 6G SAS RAID controllers feature PMC Sierra’s PM8011 SRC 8x6G 6Gb/s SAS RAID-on-Chip (RoC) with up to 512 MB of DDRII memory and are capable of delivering over 2GB of bandwidth with a single controller in HBA mode over the PCI Express 2.0 bus. This new family of RAID controller cards combines PMC-Sierra’s industry-leading RAID-on-Chip architecture with PROMISE’s market-tested RAID stack to deliver a robust, enterprise-class 6G SAS solution.

Organizations wishing to evaluate the most advanced and cost-efficient storage solutions can leverage PROMISE Technology solutions to increase the effectiveness of their storage capabilities. Show attendees can learn more about PROMISE storage solutions and how they are currently being used.

PROMISE Europe will show-case
its full complement of products at CeBIT:

  • The PROMISE VTrak E-Class, a high-performance RAID storage subsystem with no single point of failure. Designed for high-availability, the VTrak E-Class offers redundant active-active controllers with a 4Gb fiber channel, redundant power supplies and redundant cooling. The VTrak E-Class supports attachment of up to four J-Class expansion chassis for high-capacity storage applications. Offered in an industry standard 2U or 3U rack size, the VTrak product line supports up to twelve or sixteen drives, respectively. The VTrak E-Class is VMware Ready Certified, has completed the testing criteria of the VMware Storage Hardware Certification Program and is listed on the VMware HCL.
  • PROMISE VessRAID storage subsystems which provide small to medium businesses and organizations of all sizes a cost-effective way to keep data online longer, while allowing fast access and reliable data protection. The VessRAID storage system is able to handle today’s high-capacity storage requirements for video surveillance, unstructured data, disk-to-disk backup and still meet the strenuous backup requirements necessary for business continuity. With its low-cost expansion capabilities and SAS and iSCSI host interfaces, the VessRAID system is ideal for any industry confronting the need to provide a reliable, energy-efficient and secure method for the long-term storage of data.
  • PROMISE’s SmartStor family of NAS and DAS solutions for home, SOHO and small business markets, including the SmartStor NS4600 next-generation high performance NAS (network attached storage) and digital media server. The SmartStor NS4600 boasts support for up to four SATA 3G Hard Drives and is built on Intel’s EP80579 Processor running at 600 MHZ, includes 256MB of DDRII Memory, one Ethernet, two USB 2.0 Ports and one eSATA Port. The SmartStor DS4600 high performance quad interface features 4 drive RAID 5 DAS (direct attached storage) for Mac and Windows computers. The SmartStor DS4600 features four interfaces which includes USB 2.0 (1x), eSATA 3G (1x), Firewire 400 (1x) and Firewire 800 (2x). When using four 2TB SATA 3G Hard Drives consumers and end-users can build a volume with a massive 5.7TB of usable space under RAID 5 or 7.2TB under RAID 0.
