4-Bay RAID With Quad-Interface From Sans Digital
In portable tower ($399) and rackmount ($499) formats
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 22, 2010 at 3:20 pmSans Digital is introducing a set of 4-bay storage solutions with Firewire interfaces in both portable tower and enterprise rackmount formats. The TowerSTOR TS4CT and EliteRAID ER104CT are hardware RAID embedded tower and 1U rackmount providing high performance storage capabilities for personal and business use. Both units incorporated the MAC friendly Firewire 400 and 800 ports, along with the original high performance eSATA and widely available USB 2.0 interfaces, for seamless integration with every type of technologically advanced PC and MAC environment.

Integrating flexible interfaces into both portable and rackmountable enclosures allows users to find solutions that are suitable for either home or enterprise use. The widely used USB 2.0, eSATA and Firewire provide easy connection to various computing systems. The embedded hardware RAID chipset offloads complex RAID calculations from the computer to the storage unit, allowing high performance of up to 200MB/sec. Embedding the RAID engine inside the enclosure eliminates operating system compatibility issues, where no driver is needed. PC, Mac and Linux operating systems will be able to utilize the TS4CT and ER104CT as a single, RAID protected external storage, with up to 8TB storage space. With RAID modes 0, 1, 0+1, 3 and 5, both models provide redundancy for data protection against hard drive failures. Both units utilize four hot-swappable hard drive trays, which allow easy trouble shooting and hard drive replacement.
RAID information and critical system status are displayed via the built-in LCD screen on the TS4CT. In addition, the 4-bay units utilize automatic cooling fans that detect and turn on only when the temperature exceeds a certain heat level. The prices of TS4CT and ER104CT are $399 and $499 respectively, which are more affordable than other similar units on the market.
"Having the same interfaces and features available in different form factors presents the users with more choices to satisfy different storage needs," said Grandy Chen, Sans Digital President. "With built-in hardware RAID and durable aluminum housings, the 4-bay TowerSTOR and EliteRAID enclosures protects crucial stored data from both hardware and software failures."
