Raidon/Stardom RAID-5 Can Reach 800MB/s

RAIDON/Stardom announced that the ST8-U5 8 drive mini-SAS product running with ATTO Technology, Inc.‘s newest MAC driver for the ATTO ExpressSAS R380 card can reach 800MB/s plus, in RAID 5, in independent testing.

"Our tests were given to us, unprompted, by a very respected, professional video editing resource. They were very impressed with the performance of the Stardom ST8-U5 product along with the ATTO R380 card and Hitachi 2 TB drives," said Jon Schilling, VP of Sales & Marketing of Stardom. "We did some testing in the shop today with new firmware on the ATTO ExpressSAS R380 SAS card and the Stardom SOHOTANK ST8-U5, which was loaded with Hitachi drives. The results were some of the best we’ve ever seen in an 8-drive RAID 5. Using a 16.0 GB sized file in 2048×1556 10-bit RGB format, the drive pushed 705MB/s writes and 775 MB/s reads. Further, using a 16.0 GB sized file in DVCProHD 1080i60 format, the drive pushed over 822 MB/s read speeds. The results are nothing short of awesome for this price point."
