Rugged Core 2 Duo Mission Computer Subsystem From Parvus
Now supports removable media and SATA SSD
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 9, 2010 at 3:16 pmParvus Corporation announces availability and feature enhancements for its DuraCOR 810-Duo rugged multi-core mission processor subsystem. The product were displayed at the AFCEA/USNI West 2010 Conference Feb. 2-4, the largest defense and technology exposition and conference on the West Coast.
Small quantities of the DuraCOR 810-Duo are currently available for installation in technology refresh and retrofit military and aerospace platforms. Many units have already shipped for deployment onboard several military C4ISR platforms to enhance situational awareness and computational capabilities. With this robust COTS subsystem, customers are often leveraging Parvus’ professional subsystem integration services to integrate application-specific functionality into the unit’s open architecture design to expedite time to deployment and minimize engineering expense.
The DuraCOR 810-Duo multi-platform MIL-COTS mission computer is based around the Intel L7400 Core 2 Duo processor in a modular PCI-104 expandable system architecture with non-volatile Flash storage, MIL-STD power supply and environmentally sealed chassis. The product can now be ordered with a removable Compact Flash media slot to ease secure data transfer, declassification, servicing, system software updates or storage capacity upgrades. Up to two PATA Compact Flash and one SATA 1.8" Solid State Disk (SSD) interfaces are supported internally without occupying card slots , as well as one external eSATA interface for rugged Network Attached Storage (NAS). The unit comes ready to boot with Linux or Windows Embedded.
Developed for high reliability applications requiring environmental compliance with extreme temperatures, shock/vibration, and ingress, the rugged DuraCOR 810-Duo is designed to meet and will soon be qualified to MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461E for insertion into Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP)-constrained aircraft, ground vehicle and maritime platform modernization programs.
To ensure high reliability, signal integrity, and extended environment operation, this high-performance tactical computer comes equipped with circular MIL-DTL-38999 connectors, integrated EMI/EMC filtering, MIL-STD-704/1275 qualified power supply, watertight conduction-cooled enclosure, aluminium railed card cage, and near cable-less design.
Locking MIL circular connectors bring out Gigabit and Fast Ethernet connections, 6 USB ports, 2 RS-232 ports, Dual Video Display (LCD/VGA), Keyboard, Mouse, and Audio signals, as well as an expansion connector for up to 79 signals from optional add-on cards. Up to six expansion slots are available to support Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) PCI-104 or PC/104-Plus modules. Professional services are available from Parvus to deliver semi-custom versions of this product, including mechanical changes and integrated application-specific I/O cards (i.e. Ethernet Switch, MIL-STD-1553 / ARINC 429, Video Encoders/Frame Grabbers, GPS Receivers, discrete I/O, etc.).
