AIC Debuts Xtore StudioRAID 5Te

The new ultra-high performance SAS/SATA direct attached storage disk array with enterprise-type features is specifically designed for a desktop or workstation environment and delivers up to 5 terabytes (TB) of high-efficiency storage with guaranteed real-time access for multi-stream, high-bandwidth workflows. Avid’s certification ensures video editing professionals using Xtore StudioRAID 5Te with Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter video editing solutions will experience the same system reliability and performance that Avid customers have come to expect.

Xtore StudioRAID 5Te features AIC’s next generation s/w RAID stack supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 10, preventing lost media because of a failed drive. The 12Gbps wide SAS bandwidth host and expansion interface supporting both SAS and SATA hot-swappable 3.5" drives with simple ‘plug-n-play’ setup. Xtore StudioRAID 5Te quadruples the standard data transfer rate of a conventional desktop SATA RAID subsystem with enough bandwidth to provide real-time playback of uncompressed HD media, even during drive failure rebuild mode, making these ultra-high performance array a perfect match for Avid’s latest generation of editing applications. Users can expect up to two streams of 10 bit uncompressed HD content in a single RAID 5 array. For the power user, there is an optional dual 4Gbps FC mezzanine upgrade available.

Qualified reseller channels are currently accepting orders for Xtore StudioRAID 5Te with availability in February. MSRP for a single unit of 5TB of reliable storage begins at $5,795. Xtore StudioRAID 5Te is the first in a planned series of affordable Xtore Studio grade storage specifically optimized for content creators in film, video, audio, broadcast and animation.
