JDSU Expands Test Platform
For 6Gb SAS/SATA equipment
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 4, 2010 at 3:23 pmIn response to the need for cost-effective tools to develop robust and reliable 6 Gb/s SAS and SATA systems, JDSU announced the availability of the Xgig LXP and Narrow Blade development systems, as well as three new advanced functions compatible across the Xgig product line. The availability of lower cost SAS/SATA certified development tools makes the comprehensive monitoring, capture, and analysis capabilities of the industry-leading Xgig platform accessible to a wider range of developers and applications.

The Xgig LXP all-in-one development system offers fixed 2-link (4-port) SAS/SATA connectivity and the choice of any of Xgig’s comprehensive software functionality, all in a small and portable device. The smaller size makes the Xgig LXP well-suited for personal systems and environments with constrained workspace.
Narrow Blade cost-effectively extends complete 6 Gb/s SAS/SATA testing capabilities to any existing Xgig chassis. The Narrow Blade product also offers 2-link (4-port) SAS/SATA connectivity while supporting all of the advanced functionality of the Xgig platform. Narrow Blade is a lower-cost option that is ideal for design teams who do not need the full port count of the current Wide-Port Blade solution.
"JDSU continues to demonstrate its commitment to customers by leading the industry with the most comprehensive and affordable development tools," said Chris Cicchetti, marketing manager in JDSU’s Communications Test and Measurement business segment. "With these new development systems, in addition to the comprehensive list of rich capabilities, JDSU enables developers to create reliable, high-speed products while substantially reducing their time to market."
JDSU has also extended Xgig’s extensive capabilities with three new functions to accelerate the design, development and testing of 6 Gb/s SAS/SATA equipment:
- Target Emulator – generates 6 Gb/s SAS traffic at full data rates and gives developers complete control over traffic characteristics including adding response delay, injecting errors, and defining vendor-specific fields.
- Configurable Link Extender (CLE) – introduces signal conditioning to multi-function configurations to both simplify test configuration and maximize signal integrity.
- 6 Gb/s SATA Compliance Test Suite (SATA CTS) – significantly simplifies design and verification of SATA equipment to ensure products pass compliance testing. The Xgig SATA CTS has been approved by the SATA-IO for use by developers for 6 Gb/s SATA Device Digital target testing (UTD 1.4).
"SATA-IO is excited that JDSU has announced its certified compliance test suite for 6 Gb/s devices for Xgig," said John Calvin, SATA-IO logo work group chair. "The availability of certified compliance tools makes it easier for companies to confirm their products’ compliance with the SATA-IO Revision 3.0 standards, which will ultimately help accelerate market adoption of 6 Gb/s products."
The Xgig LXP and Narrow Blade development systems, as well as Target Emulation Configurable Link Extender, and SATA-IO-Approved Compliance Testing functions, are available through the JDSU global network of channel distribution partners.
