The Planet Offers Free Control Panel, Cloud Storage and Antivirus Software

The Planet announced the addition of free services bundled with every new server purchase. Across the board, customers now benefit from a free control panel, free antivirus software and 10GB of free Cloud Storage on every server leased from The Planet.

The bundle includes Symantec Endpoint Protection – business-class antivirus software – along with Storage Cloud, the company’s cloud storage solution. Customers can also choose from either Parallels Plesk Panel or cPanel/WebHost Manager (WHM) for their hosting environments.

"As more companies adopt hosting for their IT infrastructures, we’ve seen that they often choose not to invest in additional security and storage to protect their servers," said Rob Walters, director of product management with The Planet. "We have a vested interest in ensuring our customers are protected, so we’re providing these services at no charge on every server from The Planet. Coupled with their choice of control panels, again at no charge, we’re delivering even more value."

About the New Bundle
The Planet provides customers with tools to enhance their hosting experience, as well as protect and back up critical data:

• 10GB of Storage Cloud: Through a partnership with Nirvanix, the company’s Storage Cloud provides the speed and flexibility of on-premise Network Attached Storage (NAS) with the scalability and global accessibility of cloud storage. Stored on the Nirvanix local node in The Planet’s Dallas D2 data center, customers are connected to The Planet’s world-class network for unprecedented performance and rapid access to data.
• Symantec Endpoint Protection: Customer data is protected with a single agent that combines Symantec AntiVirus software with advanced malware threat prevention. Integrated security technologies include antivirus, antispyware and firewalls to prevent security breaches.
• Parallels or cPanel Control Panels: Customers can choose from either the Parallels Plesk Panel with 100 domains for Windows or Linux, or cPanel/WHM for Linux only. Both help hosters more easily and effectively manage their servers with intuitive interfaces, tools to manage domains and e-mail accounts, and options to automate daily tasks.
