Aptare Increased Customer Base to 400

And employee base growing by 38%

Enterprise storage resource management software company APTARE, Inc. posted record profits for 2009 as it further expanded its APTARE StorageConsole platform and increased its customer base to over 400 of the Global 5000 enterprises. Despite the economic downturn, APTARE continued to enjoy strong customer loyalty, with over 90 percent customer support renewal rate. The company also invested in its workforce, growing its employee base by 38 percent.

Annual bookings were up 61 percent compared to 2008, fueled by the demand for enterprise-level storage resource management tools for backup, capacity, replication and virtual environments. APTARE’s managed service provider (MSP) bookings grew by 30 percent as more customers gravitated to ‘cloud-enabled’ storage reporting and management. APTARE’s MSP partners include GlassHouse, Hitachi Data Systems, Datalink and FusionStorm.

In 2009, the company introduced two new products, APTARE StorageConsole Virtualization Manager and APTARE StorageConsole Replication Manager. Both of these products continue to help data center administrators effectively improve storage utilization in both physical and virtual server environments.

APTARE continued to strengthen its partner relationships in 2009 with industry leaders including Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), NetApp and IBM.

Highlights include:

  • APTARE enjoyed a significant increase in sales from the HDS relationship, as customers improved their storage efficiencies through use of APTARE’s products.
  • APTARE StorageConsole Backup Manager attained ‘Ready for IBM Tivoli Software’ validation, confirming that StorageConsole Backup Manager meets or exceeds IBM compatibility criteria.
  • APTARE joined the NetApp Alliance Partner Program as an Advantage Alliance Partner, complementing NetApp storage systems and solutions.

"Despite the cutbacks that most industries saw in 2009, APTARE had solid growth in our customer base and record profitability," said Richard Clark, president and CEO of APTARE. "We have great momentum headed into the new year, as storage administrators continue to keenly assess their existing environments, looking for tools that can help them optimize the utilization of their existing storage environments. The APTARE StorageConsole suite is a perfect fit for their needs, allowing customers to increase productivity by truly doing more with less."

2009 also saw APTARE granted its first U.S. patent, System to capture, transmit and persist backup and recovery meta data. It is particularly applicable to Internet and Web-based computing where data pertaining to multiple mission-critical backup events can be sent over the Internet or corporate networks to a single common portal where it is stored, summarized and presented through a Web 2.0-based graphical user interface.
