New Online Backup Service by UK Company ITech Support
For businesses
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 28, 2010 at 3:10 pmCurrently, all businesses in the UK are legally obligated to keeping certain files and data for a minimum of seven years. The Data Protection Act (DPA) clearly states that organisations must take appropriate measures to ensure personal information is kept secure. But following from nearly 700 incidents of public data breaches, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is now being advised by the government to step up on fining companies that recklessly or maliciously breach the DPA. In extreme cases, breach of the Act can lead to imprisonment.
ITech Support Ltd., a UK company, has launched a new website called Online IT Backup to offer secure online data backup at an affordable price. The aim is to help both small and large businesses not only protect their valuable files but also to give them peace of mind in knowing that public data breaches will not occur. In the last year alone, the company has successfully restored hundreds of thousands of crucial customer files, servicing both 1-man-band businesses to those with 1000’s of employees.
The cost to businesses of data loss can run into thousands, not to mention loss of customer confidence if personal details are breached.
Until recently, only blue chip companies have been able to afford reliable online backup. The new Online IT Backup website however brings cost effective enterprise level security to businesses of all sizes. Data stored on their backup servers are 36 million times more reliable than an individual hard drive. This is a result of military strength encryption which uses the same air-tight technology as online banking and the latest server hardware.
Mr Stuart Pinner, CEO of Online IT Backup, commented: "With our extensive experience in the IT industry, we realised that many companies don’t understand the importance of a secure and reliable offsite backup. Our new website is aimed at educating business owners that secure online backup can be both reliable and easy to use. We offer businesses enterprise class technology and protection combined with a fanatical support team. We can even remotely access servers and workstations to help with both setup and restore if needed."
The company provides two versions of their online backup software. Level 1 caters to individual workstations i.e. PC’s and laptops and level 2 is for servers which can be backed up in minutes and run platforms like Microsoft Exchange, SQL database, Oracle or Lotus. Their software is also MAC compatible.
With statistics like the following, the importance of file storage protection is apparent; 1 out of every 14 drives fails within a year (Google – Eduardo Pinheiro, Wolf-Dietrich Weber and Luiz André Barrosolabs), 70 percent of companies go out of business after a major data loss (DTI), 1 in 3 laptops die in the first year. 20.4 percent of failures are due to hardware malfunctions, 10.6 percent are due to drops, spills, or other accidental damage.
Stuart Pinner of Online IT Backup concludes: "The cost to businesses of data loss can run into thousands, not to mention loss of customer confidence if personal details are breached. Our goal is to set a new standard in data security with a simple, set-and-forget online backup service that is affordable to all business owners."
