70% sales growth in 2009

Data Robotics, Inc. announced that 2009 was the company’s best year in terms of growth and sales, reaching 100,000 units shipped to date of its Drobo line of data storage arrays.

With the introduction of three new Drobo products in 2009 – Drobo S, DroboPro, and DroboElite – Data Robotics expanded its market focus beyond its core audience of prosumers to deliver radically simplified data storage to professionals and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The introduction of the new Drobo products accelerated sales and helped the company to add over 1,000 channel partners and achieve 70% sales growth in 2009.

As the trend of rapid data growth continues across all market segments, from personal storage users to large enterprises, so does the need for data storage solutions that can easily, reliably store and protect data as it grows,” said Benjamin S. Woo, program vice president of storage systems at IDC. “Data Robotics is leveraging its success in the prosumer market – with solutions that are focused around ease of use – to deliver business class data storage and protection solutions at a price point below competing business class products, enabling the company to experience growth and broader appeal across a variety of markets.
