For Windows 7 compatibility
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 22, 2010 at 3:06 pmData Encryption Systems Limited (DES), a UK-based company in software copyright protection, data encryption, secure messaging and data storage solutions, has today announced its first major update to the DESlock + 4.0. The new 4.0.4 version has Windows 7 compatibility therefore existing and new users can migrate smoothly and without any difficulties.
The upgrade is available for download.
Gaining Windows 7 compatibility reaffirms that DES satisfies all security and reliability criteria established by Microsoft as well as their commitment to reacting to changes in their customer’s operating systems. As part of the validation process, DESlock+ has undergone weeks of stringent testing on all platforms to ensure the prized features and performance of the previous version remains. It also means that each component of the full disc encryption tool will work perfectly under any system configuration, in all modes and on all architectures. The previous version of DESlock+ will work with Windows 7 but some of the features don’t function to their full potential. The new release addresses these quirks as well as including a mass of small updates to enhance the product.
Key features of DESlock+ 4.0.4 include Full Disk Encryption, Removable Media Encryption, File and Folder Encryption, Encrypted Archives and Virtual Disks, Email Encryption and Fully Scalable Remote Management.
David Tomlinson, Managing Director for DES, comments: “We have taken this opportunity to include several updates to DESlock+ which will benefit customers across the board. DES is pleased to offer Windows 7 capabilities to its products as we recognise the need to take into account the changes in technology which our customers are using. We’re pretty excited about releasing DESlock+ 4.0.4 as it is the first major update since we launched version 4 at Infosec Europe back in April and it includes a number of improvements and updates designed to make encrypting sensitive data easier than ever. It also looks great on Windows 7. We take security seriously and in order to guarantee DESlock+ continued to meet our customer’s requirements, we felt it was a must for us to take this step. Investing in Windows 7 compatibility is a natural move in our on-going strive to adapt to as many IT environments as possible whilst ensuring we keep our user-base safe – DESlock+ Version 4.04 answers this problem.”
See It For Yourself
Not a week goes by without headlines about data leakage, a problem which could be hugely damaging from both a reputation and brand point of view but also lost custom and regulatory penalties. The danger of data leakage could come from a variety of sources from phishing to an employee, yet it is so easy to protect your sensitive data with data encryption tools. So as special gesture to kick of 2010, DES is offering a new Business desktop trial version to prove how simple and effective data encryption is – it doesn’t need to be technical.
This free trial version includes all features of the full ‘Business Desktop’ except full disk encryption which can be added on request.
David Tomlinson comments: “We have had many enquiries about security for memory sticks and other removable media, and this download will allow potential customers to fully evaluate our removable media encryption along with the other granular encryption features of DESlock+. We hope to dispel the myths of data encryption by proving how simple to use and manage DESlock+ is, there is no need for us to visit a workplace to set it up, everything can be done remotely with the assistance of our excellent support staff if necessary. We are confident that once people see how user friendly the product is and how valuable it is in protecting their data, that they will not want to risk their and their customer’s information ever again. We have an ongoing strategy of providing reliable, safe and secure data protection solutions and we want as many people as possible to have access to the highest possible standards of security.”
