The Royal Albert Hall Selects Mimecast
For email archiving and security
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 20, 2010 at 2:35 pmThe Royal Albert Hall (RAH) has selected Mimecast, a holistic unified email management company offering SaaS-based email archiving, continuity and security to improve its email security and archiving.
The RAH entertains over a million people each year and receives almost 4,000 emails every day from promoters representing world famous artists, customers with queries, families and students involved with their Learning and Participation programmes and even from volunteers requesting to support the RAH in its work as a charity. And with employees working evenings and weekends, secure always-available e-mail is a must. With Mimecast Unified Email Management, this is made possible.
Prior to implementation, the RAH’s existing anti-spam and anti-virus protection was proving difficult to use. It lacked the level of control required and the IT team were wasting valuable time setting security policies, reviewing quarantined emails and restoring wrongly deleted emails. It needed a system that could eliminate security threats immediately while helping to streamline the organisation’s email management system.
Crispin Gray, Head of Information Systems at The Royal Albert Hall explains: “With Mimecast’s Data Leak Prevention techniques, we now know that staff cannot inadvertently send credit card details or other confidential information out of the business. Moreover, with Mimecast’s email security, we have been able to prevent 53,000 spam emails from reaching our Exchange server every day.”
Since implementation, Mimecast has provided the RAH with a complete search and retrieval functionality and so staff can now look through its entire email archive of up to 10 years in seconds. Furthermore, it can now retrieve deleted emails in less than a minute whereas it used to take up to se veral hours with its previous technology.
Gray adds: “The move to Mimecast has significantly reduced the load placed on our email system, allowing our IT staff to provide a more efficient service. Capturing and storing internal, inbound and outgoing emails provides a comprehensive back-up and Mimecast’s 99.999% uptime supports our business continuity strategy. It allows us to access our emails in the event of any issue arising with MS Exchange.”
Peter Bauer, CEO of Mimecast adds: “The Royal Albert Hall entertains over a million people each year so must be in total control of its emails. By selecting a cloud system, we are able to provide their organisation with 24/7 email support and unrivalled computing power. We look forward to working closely with The Royal Albert Hall over the coming years, helping them continue to deliver the kind of customer service expected from such a world famous institution.”
