The storage industry’s highest capacity multi-tiered optical Blu-ray-based data storage system, the TBYTe 8.14.28, promises the most reliable, green and cost-effective means to store and archive unlimited amounts of mission-critical data.

Packed with vital components – the storage system includes an enterprise class server, 14 optical burners and 28TB of Hard Disk Drive online cache. It can be delivered with 50TB of nearline Blu-ray media which reside in eight hot swappable stacks allowing for unlimited growth. With media reliability of 50-100 years, the offline archival and disaster recovery requirements of users’ irreplaceable assets are easily accessed and protected.

Small and powerful – the TBYTe 8.14.28 provides multi-tiered hierarchical storage management and processing performance in a single 15U appliance, about the size of a college dorm room refrigerator. Multi-core application server, SATA RAID cache, Blu-ray burners, and long life nearline/offline optical media are all merged into a single energy-efficient and autonomous data workhorse.

‘Green’ friendly – commercial and governmental users sensitive to the cost of electricity and dedicated to maintaining green sustainability initiatives can plug this all-encompassing Green Data Storage solution, which has a miniscule nominal power draw of less than 600 watts, into a standard 120v wall outlet.

Solid Blu-ray foundation – first popularized by the entertainment industry as the data medium of choice for high definition movies and 3D gaming, Blu-ray media is today also recognized as an extremely cost-effective, reliable and energy-efficient means to archive data for decades by enterprise and industrial-class users alike.

With the introduction of the TBYTe 8.14.28 storage solution system, Hie Electronics more than doubles the speed of writes and increases the availability of cache close to five fold. The efficiency of the system’s overall operation significantly improves with the additional burner controllers,” says Patrick Humm, Chairman and President of Hie Electronics. “The TBYTe 8.14.28 is also capable of performing offsite data replication and enhanced system clustering. We are proud to have accomplished all of this while being able to significantly reduce storage hardware expenditures and lower data management power and cooling costs by 60 to 90 percent for our customers.”

Hie Electronics is a data storage provider for Fortune 100 companies, as well as the government sector, and addresses the complex requirements of all high-capacity market segments.

There is a move afoot to digitize and archive everything, from paper documents to architectural drawings, medical records, geospatial images, legal data assets, motion picture film production, and more. The ability to easily and quickly restore data is critical to the success of the world’s businesses, education systems, hospitals, and municipal and governmental agencies,” says Humm. “The federal government has mandated laws associated with the timeliness of digitized record keeping, driving organizations to look at alternatives to traditional disk and tape systems. The TBYTe 8.14.28 ‘green’ storage system enables Hie Electronics to provide users with solutions that are unparalleled in performance, energy efficiency and total cost of ownership.”
