Freecom Network Storage Center
Up to 2TB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 18, 2010 at 3:13 pmFreecom, now a Mitsubishi Kagaku Media company (Verbatim), launched the Network Storage Center, a simple to use, dedicated 3.5” network storage drive that stores up to 2TB of data from the entire corporate network in one central location. For small to medium-sized businesses, the Network Storage Center makes it easy for multiple users on the same network to share presentations, download large files and store and access spreadsheets, documents and images across multiple offices from any computer that is connected to the corporate network.
Complete with a secure remote access option, the Network Storage Center puts users within easy reach of their business-critical information from any location, enabling them to share files across a network anytime, anywhere. Employees can organise their data and control access to specific files by assigning individual usernames and passwords – ensuring that their individual content remains secure and segregated at all times.
“Information is quickly becoming a company’s most valuable asset and with the increasing use of web 2.0 applications and new media, businesses need an easy way to manage large amounts of data,” said Axel Lucassen, managing director at Freecom. “Many companies have been sceptical of network drives in the past because they have been notoriously complicated to setup and install, but our new Network Storage Center is simple to use in any environment, enabling businesses to benefit from the ability to share and collaborate on corporate data. This is particularly idea for small to medium-sized businesses that need optimum storage and collaboration with a lower price tag than alternative solutions on the market. Also, as each employee can have their own secure folder for their own files, it’s easy for everyone to access at the same time, without having to keep track of multiple hard drives lying around the office.”
With its ease of use and simplicity, those who need to extend or back up their existing storage can do so without installing multiple devices. What’s more, the Network Storage Center takes up minimal room with its compact 15.5 x 14.8 x 4.3cm measurements. The drive connects directly to a network router or switch, and simple installation software makes it easy for users to set up in minutes. Businesses that work with large amounts of AV files can easily upgrade the Network Storage Center to the Network Media Center, which includes a built-in BitTorrent client, making it easier for graphics and audio professionals who regularly need to share multimedia content across the corporate network.
The Network Storage Center’s heat-absorbing aluminium enclosure combines functionality with style. The temperature-controlled dual ball bearing cooling fan system prevents the drive from overheating, and the unit runs quietly with low power consumption. Environmentally-conscious users also have the option to save energy by adjusting the downtime of the drive to best suit their usage needs.
