Index Engines Validates 1TB/Hour Indexing

On EMC Celerra

Index Engines, Inc. has expanded its participation in the EMC Velocity Technology and ISV Program to including high-speed indexing capabilities on the EMC Celerra unified storage systems.

The Index Engines 3.0 platform is able to perform full content and metadata indexing of backup data contained on EMC Celerra systems, enabling users fast and easy access to stored data. During recent tests conducted by Index Engines with support from EMC, a single indexing node of the Index Engines 3.0 platform achieved sustained rates of over 1 Terabyte per hour on an EMC Celerra storage system.

Interoperability of Index Engines and the Celerra platform enables fast and easy access to large volumes of stored data. Enterprise clients, storing significant volumes of data on EMC Celerra platforms, require quick access and discovery of this information in support of key business initiatives such as litigation support, compliance, and storage optimization. Adding Index Engines processing speeds of 1TB/Hr to the Celerra platform will help enterprise IT teams solve these critical issues faster and more accurately than ever before.

Index Engines is a purpose-built platform that supports enterprise-class discovery requiring the rapid processing of large volumes of data. The performance rate of 1 TB/hr was implemented through a single Index Engines node connected to the EMC Celerra via a direct connection of bounded GigE connections receiving six simultaneous NDMP data streams. Data combinations of Exchange data (.EDBs and .STMs) with Files System data, Files System data only, and Exchange data only were all tested with indexing results above 1 Terabyte per hour.

"EMC Celerra is a market leading system for storing valuable enterprise data," said Jim McGann, Vice President of Information Discovery at Index Engines. “By adding the 1 TB/hr indexing capability to this already leading platform, Celerra customers will be able to augment their storage infrastructure investment with efficient and cost effective electronic discovery.

The Index Engines 3.0 also supports index and search capabilities up to one billion data objects in a single engine. The average Index Engines index footprint ranges from 4 to 8%. Base price for the Index Engines 3.0 with NDMP indexing is $85,000. Orders are now being accepted, with shipments within four weeks of the order date.
