This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 14, 2010 at 3:03 pmLexar Media announced the Crucial RealSSD C300 drive, its highest-performing solid-state drive. Building on the Crucial SSD line, the new Crucial C300 offers mobile and desktop users the fastest SSD read and write speeds available to end consumers. The announcement was made from the Storage Visions 2010 show in Las Vegas.
The Crucial RealSSD C300 drive will come in a standard 2.5-inch form factor, supporting 128GB and 256GB capacities, and will come with a limited five-year warranty. Benchmark tests have shown the Crucial C300 to be the fastest desktop and notebook SSD available to end consumers, boasting scorching-fast read speeds of up to 355MB/s. The Crucial C300 natively supports SATA 6Gb/s – the next generation high-speed storage interface – and is backwards compatible with the SATA 3Gb/s interface.
"The Crucial RealSSD C300 drive is the fastest drive we’ve tested to date," said Robert Wheadon, Lexar Media senior worldwide SSD product manager. "The big ‘wow’ factor for consumers is a marked improvement in boot-up times – the Crucial RealSSD C300 drive is blazing fast, like no other SSD we’ve ever seen in the Crucial Performance Lab.”
“We’ve had tremendous response from the industry since we introduced the Micron RealSSD C300 drive in early December, and we’re eager to get it into the hands of consumers,” said Justin Sykes, Micron director of SSD marketing. “With its award-winning service and support, and global reputation for excellence, Crucial is the ideal brand to deliver our latest RealSSD consumer drive.”
The Crucial RealSSD C300 drive is expected to be available in February 2010 through select resellers worldwide and online.
