MCCI has been at the forefront of SuperSpeed USB 3.0 development since the standard was announced in November 2008. MCCI demonstrated SuperSpeed host and device solutions at the USB Dev Con in Tokyo in May 2009. In September 2009 at the Intel Development Forum, MCCI demonstrated its high performance USB 3.0 software optimized for a best-in-class performance.

"MCCI is used to breaking new ground and supporting cutting-edge development," said Terry Moore, MCCI CEO. "Not only will customers benefit from high-performance USB 3.0, but they will also retain backward compatibility with billions of USB 2.0 products on the market. Unlike other early solutions that utilize separate, standalone USB 2.0 controllers, our fully-compliant USB 3.0 solution utilizes the same path for USB 2.0 products, reducing product cost."

An additional MCCI Mass Storage Class driver combined with MCCI’s SuperSpeed host stack or Microsoft Windows USB 2.0 host stack improves storage device throughput by up to 25%. Read speeds of up to 270 MB/s have been achieved in early tests. Both the MCCI SuperSpeed USB 3.0 xHCI host stack and MCCI Mass Storage Class driver are available to product developers in January 2010.
