With the increase of signal speeds in the computing, storage and communications applications, system designers increasingly face signal integrity challenges. The IDT 89HP0X0X family of repeaters conditions high speed IO providing signal integrity over extended distances while offering simplified design by alleviating board layout constraints.

These new solutions offer the industry a blend of top analog performance, low power, and the many system level features tailored to application specific protocol requirements ideally addressing today’s challenging signal integrity issues,” said Mario Montana, vice president and general manager of the IDT Enterprise Computing Division. “As seen with the first IDT LinkXtend repeaters targeting the DisplayPort protocol, IDT is using its expertise in mixed signal design to raise the bar for signal integrity solutions.”

The new family of devices incorporates advanced receive equalization and transmit de-emphasis capabilities, as well as diagnostic features that help IDT customers achieve a simplified design with faster time to market. Specifically, the devices drive on-board long traces, backplane traces and cables to external devices to ensure best possible signal integrity. In addition, they include loss of signal (LOS) detection and individual channel loopback diagnostic capabilities as well as 2:1 mux/demux functions. Following the IDT Power Smart initiative, the new devices are also optimized to provide the lowest possible power consumption.

The IDT 89HP0X0X family of solutions is well suited for applications such as computing, storage, telecommunications, industrial and active cables or in any environment where the transmission of high speed signals over long distances without sacrificing signal integrity is required. The solution provides flexibility and safeguards helping to simplify board design. By focusing on repeater functionality, the devices are able to offer a footprint optimized for applications where size and board layout are critical.

Availability
The new signal integrity solutions are currently sampling in the 4-channel option, with 2- and 8- channel options sampling in calendar Q1 of 2010, and are available in various package sizes.
