Optelian Optical Transport System Receives Verification by Brocade
For SAN-based environments
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 18, 2009 at 3:07 pmOptelian, designer and manufacturer of optical network systems, announced that its LightGAIN Optical Transport System has been verified by Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. as being compatible with Brocade-based Storage Area Networking (SAN) infrastructures, in accordance with the testing requirements of the Brocade Data Center Ready Program.
The program is an initiative designed to foster interoperability in multi-vendor, Brocade-based data center environments. The Brocade Data Center Ready Program boasts an impressive group of members joining the program since its launch in 2000.
"The successful completion of Brocade’s compatibility testing is a strong link in the chain of acceptance testing completed for our customers and is further evidence of the compatibility of Optelian’s carrier-grade systems with the diverse elements of the network," said Dave Mills, vice president of Sales and Service at Optelian. "Our customer base and our technology alliances are a testament to the excellent design and proven reliability of Optelian’s LightGAIN systems."
The LightGAIN DWDM Optical Network System is typically one-third the size and uses approximately one-third the power of many competitive systems, giving users a real choice for their optical transport systems. LightGAIN is well-known for its quality with a high mean time between failures (MTBF) and a short delivery time. The system configuration tested was a 40-channel DWDM system with protection path switching.
"We are pleased that Optelian has successfully completed the Data Center Ready testing with Brocade switches and directors in multi-vendor SAN environments," said Patric Chang, director of Strategic Alliances at Brocade. "Storage area networks are being deployed worldwide at a rapid rate as a scalable, high-performance networking foundation for storage environments. The Brocade Data Center Ready program is an example of our continued commitment to delivering end-to-end interoperability to customers."
About the Brocade Data Center Ready Program
The Brocade Data Center Ready program is a comprehensive testing and configuration initiative designed to foster end-to-end SAN interoperability. As part of the program, testing is conducted in SAN configurations that include a heterogeneous mix of servers, storage systems, Brocade switches, SAN management and enterprise applications, and other SAN technologies. Brocade has created an interoperability lab featuring a heterogeneous SAN fabric, in which the company tests and validates partner equipment in specific configurations. Vendors receive Brocade Data Center Ready qualification after completing tests to confirm that vendors’ products meet interoperability guidelines.
