Unitrends Integrates Item-Level Recovery
To optimize disk-based backup processes for Exchange
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 17, 2009 at 3:25 pmUnitrends announced a new bundled solution to optimize backup and retention processes for Microsoft Exchange environments. The new capabilities allow for granular recovery of Microsoft Exchange data without the need for recovery servers or other costly, timing consuming processes, resulting in faster and more efficient email backup processes and expediting item-level recoveries.
“Unitrends is dramatically cutting the time and money spent on email restoration,” said Tim Wallick, Chief Administrative Officer, Unitrends. “Now we can help administrators restore individual messages, mailboxes, attachments and even notes, contacts and tasks with a single backup pass. This reduces both storage and resource costs while helping our customers to optimize their critical data protection strategy for Microsoft Exchange.”
With the new features, users can complete backups more quickly while using less storage space. With a single backup pass, Exchange data is both collected for complete backup protection as well as item-level recovery requests. With the ability to read Exchange EDB files directly, administrators do not need to backup individual mailboxes or perform brick-level backup activities. The Unitrends solution can also now enable searches across all mailboxes in an archive to restore needed messages and mailboxes.
