AppAssure Protect Data for Flagler College

Flagler College is a growing dynamic school with 2400 students and 300 staff members in St. Augustine, Florida. With 34 protected servers and counting, Technology Services Network Engineer, Brendan Hourihan and his six-person IT department supports it all.

Hourihan was blown away by AppAssure Software‘s Replay 4 because it gave him a solution that allowed the college to take a ‘quantum leap’ in providing co-location facility support at a great cost with high availability. With AppAssure’s advanced deduplication and compression, Hourihan is seeing disk-space savings of 84%. With his previous solution, he was going through 9.6TB every 2 weeks; with Replay 4, he’s used just over 1.5TB in the same time period.

"There’s no way we could have been in this state before Replay 4." As Hourihan notes, "In colleges of our size, a student to IT staff ratio is usually about 1/144. Here at Flagler, it’s about 1/425. If it plugs into a wall, we support it. We are the focal point for everything: fax machines, telephones, computers, printers, you name it! We do quite a bit with not very much, but we’re able to do great things."
